About controls: I think it'd be a good idea to have two pre-made sets as well as the option to customize. The current automatic option is probably for left-handed people and maybe the complaints about the difficulty came from right-handed people who didn't change the controls? Anyways, I think it'd make it easier and more obvious that the player can customize the controls. Second thing is... the music. I'm sorry, but it's just not good. It sounds like a royalty-free music playing at a shop and it does feel like it takes forever to complete each track. There needs to be a big upgrade here, because, well, the music is the core of the rhythm games.
